PR CARD RENEWAL
Once a person is approved for Canadian permanent residence, they are eligible to apply for a Canadian permanent resident card (PR card). This card indicates a person’s PR status in Canada and can be used to travel in and out of the country. Permanent residents of Canada are required to keep their PR cards valid because they have a five-year expiration date.

This implies you'll have to apply for a new PR card every five years. The process of renewing a permanent residence card involves preparing an application packet that allows visa officials to determine whether you meet the standards for renewal.
In dealing with the legal and formal aspects of the PR card renewal, a professional immigration lawyer can be extremely helpful.
Eligibility:
-
You must be a permanent resident
-
You must submit an application in Canada
-
You should not be under an effective removal order
-
You should not be a Canadian citizen or a registered Indian under the Indian Act
-
You should not be convicted of an offense related to the misuse of a Permanent Resident Card.

Residency Obligations: You must
-
reside in Canada for 730 days with respect to every 5-years period through any combination of the following:
-
Being Physically present in Canada.
2. Accompanying abroad a parent, spouse or common law partner who is a Canadian Citizen.
Being employed by a Canadian business or government service.
3. Accompanying abroad by a parent, spouse or common law partner engaged in #3.
Important to note:
-
Even if a person fails to meet the permanent resident residency obligation, their PR status remains in effect until an official decision is made on their status.
-
If a permanent resident is outside of Canada and wishing to enter Canada they may apply for a permanent resident travel document (PRTD) if they do not have a valid PR card. The PRTD is usually valid for a single entry to Canada, allowing the permanent resident to enter the country before applying for a PR card, or PR card renewal.
-
PR Card can be renewed in less than 9 months of its expiry.
-
PR Card will not sent to non -Canadian address.
-
When a PR card expires, permanent residence status is not automatically lost. Only an official procedure can result in the loss of PR status. If a person wishes to resign their status as a permanent resident, they must fill out an application to voluntarily give up their status. If a person knows they have not satisfied their residence obligation and intends to travel, this may save time when travelling.

Documents Requirement:
